Project Summary: The project aims to improve the road network and enhance its efficiency in a manner that ensures smooth traffic flow and ease of access to the airport building and its associated facilities.
The project contributes to enhancing the efficiency of infrastructure in Muharraq Governorate by reducing traffic congestion on Arad Hwy and Khalifa Al Kabeer Hwy, in line with population growth, urban expansion, and citizens' aspirations, while also supporting the objectives of sustainable development and Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
Phase 3 (A) of the project includes the implementation of integrated development works comprising the rehabilitation of the intersection and parts of Arad Hwy and Khalifa Al Kabeer Hwy within the project scope, in addition to the construction of a new free left-turn flyover along Khalifa Al Kabeer Hwy at its intersection with Arad Hwy, as well as the upgrading of the existing water crossing on Arad Hwy. The capacity of the intersection will increase upon completion of the project from 5,250 vehicles per hour to approximately 16,000 vehicles per hour.
The works also include the implementation of landscaping and beautification projects and the construction of a modern rainwater drainage network, in accordance with the approved engineering and environmental standards.
