The Roads Projects & Maintenance Directorate supervises the construction and maintenance of the Kingdom’s road and bridge network through approved contractors.  It evaluates the network capacity and is responsible for ensuring compliance with safety standards through a regular service and maintenance programme. The Directorate works to realise the national objective for using transportation as an instrument for economic development.  To this end, particular attention is given to routes that link major developments and investments to other parts of the Kingdom, and to upgrading the strategic approach roads to neighboring countries
