His Excellency Engineer Ibrahim bin Hassan Al Hawaj, Minister of Works, affirmed that continued investment in qualified national talent in line with the highest international professional standards is a firmly established approach adopted by the Ministry to enhance project delivery efficiency, improve the quality of project outcomes, and support the objectives of the Kingdom's comprehensive development process, while advancing government performance and promoting sustainability.
The Minister made these remarks while honoring 18 project managers and engineers specializing in engineering project management at the Ministry of Works, in recognition of their achievement in obtaining a number of internationally recognized professional certifications in project management during the current year. The recognition reflects their professional excellence and commitment to enhancing their academic and practical capabilities, thereby contributing to institutional excellence.
His Excellency noted that the Ministry continues to implement a range of programmes aimed at developing and qualifying its national workforce in accordance with international best practices and standards. He emphasized the Ministry's belief that highly qualified professionals are the cornerstone of the successful delivery of strategic projects through enhanced planning and execution, effective risk management, and the timely completion of projects within approved budgets while ensuring the highest standards of quality and sustainability.
He added that the Ministry of Works remains committed to investing in human capital by providing specialized training and professional development programmes and enabling employees to obtain leading internationally recognized professional certifications, thereby strengthening the competitiveness of Bahrain's national workforce.
The certifications obtained by the Ministry's employees include the Project Management Professional (PMP), Program Management Professional (PgMP), PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP), and Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) credentials, all awarded by the Project Management Institute (PMI). These are among the world's most prestigious and widely recognized professional certifications in project and programme management.
As a result, the total number of Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate holders at the Ministry of Works has increased to 82 project managers, while 9 project managers have obtained the Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification, and 5 project managers have earned the PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP) certification.
