The Ministry of Works has concluded its preparatory course for the Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification examination, administered by the Project Management Institute (PMI), headquartered in the United States.

Mohammed Saleh Asheer, Director of Human Resources at the Ministry of Works, stated that the course forms part of a series of professional training programmes delivered by the ministry's Strategic Planning and Project Management Section, which is accredited by the Project Management Institute (PMI) as a specialised training centre in project management and professional certification preparation.

Asheer noted that the ministry organises such programmes to further enhance the capabilities and competencies of its engineering, technical, and administrative personnel in engineering and technical project management, in line with the ministry's strategic objectives.

He added that the number of engineers and specialists from various sectors of the ministry who have obtained the Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification has reached nine.

The five-day preparatory course was delivered by Dr. Vinod Manikara, a PMI-certified instructor, who is among eight engineering professionals within the ministry accredited by the institute as licensed trainers.

The Strategic Planning and Project Management Section, in coordination with the Human Resources Directorate, continues to design and implement specialised project management training programmes as part of the ministry's strategic plan. These programmes are aimed at developing the capabilities of current and newly appointed engineers and technical staff, supporting the successful delivery of the ministry's vital projects in accordance with the highest quality standards and intended objectives. They also contribute to preparing the next generation of engineers and project managers for future leadership responsibilities while strengthening institutional knowledge through the transfer and sustainability of expertise.
