Engineer Shaikh Mishal bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Works, announced the completion and opening of a new two-lane U-turn on Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway at its intersection with Zallaq Highway for traffic heading north towards Manama. The project forms part of the ministry's ongoing efforts to develop the road network and improve traffic flow across the Kingdom.

The undersecretary explained that the project included the construction of a 1.3-kilometre U-turn to serve traffic heading to areas located east of Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway, including Al Raffa. The new link will facilitate vehicle movement, reduce travel distances for motorists, and ease congestion at intersections along Zallaq Highway, thereby improving traffic flow in the surrounding area.

He added that the project also included widening the right-turn slip road from Zallaq Highway onto Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway to two lanes, in addition to carrying out the protection and relocation of a number of affected utility services.

The undersecretary affirmed that the project is part of the Ministry of Works' plans to further develop the Kingdom's road infrastructure and enhance its operational efficiency through projects that improve the level of services provided to road users, offer effective traffic solutions, enhance mobility, and improve road safety.
