The Ministry of Works organised a variety of sporting and health-related events and activities for its staff, in implementation of the Cabinet's decision that Thursday, 12 February 2026, would be a half-day working day in all ministries and government bodies; to allow employees to participate in the Kingdom of Bahrain's Sports Day events, thereby reinforcing the role of sport as a community culture.
In this regard, HE Eng. Ibrahim bin Hassan Al-Hawaj, the Minister of Works, emphasised that the designation of an annual day for sporting activities reflects the great importance the Kingdom of Bahrain attaches to sport and its vital role in building and developing communities, noting that such initiatives contribute to strengthening the Kingdom of Bahrain's position in the fields of sport and community development, and are in line with the Kingdom's selection as the Capital of Arab Sports Culture 2026.
HE noted the Ministry of Works' commitment to participating annually in this national event by organising a variety of sports programmes and activities for its staff, which help to raise awareness of the importance of physical activity and encourage a healthy and balanced lifestyle, emphasising that these events promote the adoption of positive health behaviours that benefit public health.
The events organised by the Ministry of Works included a range of sporting and health activities, which saw widespread participation from the Ministry's staff in a positive atmosphere that reflected the importance of sport in promoting physical and mental health, and its role in building a motivating work environment that contributes to raising institutional performance levels and strengthening team spirit.
