The Ministry of Works held its first meeting of the Project Management Community in the presence of HE the Minister of Works, the Ministry's project managers, and staff holding professional certifications in project management. This was part of the Ministry's commitment to fostering a culture of project management and the exchange of expertise and institutional knowledge.
During the meeting, the Ministry of Works' achievements were highlighted, with a review of the most notable projects and initiatives implemented during 2024–2025, and the tangible impact they have had on improving performance efficiency and the quality of implementation.
The meeting's programme included a presentation by Eng. Bassam Ahmed Malalla, the Chief of Strategic Planning and Project Management Section, on the Ministry's achievements in project management, which included developing the competence of government staff, excellence in project implementation, and the winning of international, regional and local awards for the best efficiently completed projects in the infrastructure and buildings sectors. The floor was then opened for audience participation and knowledge sharing, with participants – comprising project managers – discussing the application of best practices in the Ministry's project management, the challenges faced, and lessons learnt, thereby contributing to the development of the project management system and strengthening collaborative work between various entities.
In conclusion, the importance of continuing such professional initiatives, which contribute to building a knowledge-based community specialising in project management, was emphasised.
