MoW’s Human Resources Directorate concluded the Engineering Cadre Occupational Safety Programme, which had taken place throughout year 2013 and involved the engineering cadre from all engineering sectors at the Ministry. The number of participants in the programme reached 245 employees.
HRD Director Mahmoud Abdul Rahim said that the programme aimed to spread awareness and educate engineers about the importance of committing to health and occupational safety measures, in order for engineers to later spread this awareness to contractors implementing governmental projects supervised by the Ministry of Works.
‘The Ministry is keen to abide to all safety measures and procedures and make sure that such procedures are applied by contractors working for the Ministry,’ added Mr. Abdul Rahim. The Ministry has issued a guide on occupational safety, highlighting various safety procedures that aim to protect labor working at the Ministry’s different buildings, facilities and project sites.
