HE the Minister of Works Eng. Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf toured Juffair with MP Hassan Bu Khamas, Roads Planning & Design Director Eng. Kadhim Abdul Latif and a number of engineers from the Ministry, to inspect services and infrastructure needs in the area.
The Minister Khalaf informed MP Bu Khamas about the present and future revamp projects in Juffair; reiterating the fact that similar meetings with MPs are essential to closely acknowledge citizens’ needs and find ways to ensure that such needs and requirements are properly met.
During the visit, a number of projects implemented by the Ministry in Juffair were highlighted, including the revamp of Al Fateh Highway, whose tender was awarded to one of the consulting companies. Preliminary designs for revamping Al Fateh Highway and Bani Otbah Avenue near the Gulf Hotel were also completed, and engineering drawings for the revamp of Sheikh Duaj Avenue and Al Fateh Highway have also been put in place.
The Ministry of Works is to expand Awal Avenue from 2 lanes to 3 lanes, and will also create an exit point to those coming from Avenue 3444 towards Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Causeway in order to alleviate traffic congestion at the present exits in Juffair.
MP Bu Khamas presented a number of suggestions, including opening new roads and improving the road network in certain places in Juffair; aiming to ease traffic congestions. He also suggested creating more entrance and exit points in Juffair through revamping Awal Avenue, revamping the road surrounding Al Najma Club, improving Al Ghuraifa entrances, solving the rain water flood issue near Jaffar Al Sadiq Mosque, finding a way to prevent heavy trucks from entering the new residential areas overlooking Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Causeway, in addition to paving a number of roads in Juffair.
