HE the Minister of Works Eng. Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf received President of the University of Bahrain Dr. Ebrahim Janahi, accompanied by the Vice-President for Community Service and Alumni Affairs Dr. Ali Mansoor, Vice-President for Planning and Development Dr. Waheeb Al Naser, Dean of College of Engineering Dr. Nader Al Bastaki and Engineering Office Director Dr. Fuad Al Ansari.
 
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister Khalaf welcomed Dr. Janahi and expressed pleasure at the meeting, which is seen as an invaluable opportunity for both the Ministry of Works and the University of Bahrain to exchange expertise and enhance cooperation on various levels. Khalaf also commended the admirable efforts of Bahrain University Graduates, many of whom joined the Ministry for training opportunities. ‘The Ministry of Works is keen to provide varied training opportunities especially for final year students, in order to enrich their graduation projects. We also seek to take those students on field visits to mega construction projects locations supervised by the Ministry of Works, such as causeway projects and sanitary plants,’ said Khalaf.
 
On his end, Dr. Janahi lauded the expertise gained at the University of Bahrain since its establishment 27 years ago; highlighting the fact that there are now around 18,200 students at various specializations at the University. Janahi also highlighted the importance of training and its role in enhancing students’ skills and experience. ‘The Ministry of Works is one of the main organizations that the University seeks to deal with for training needs.
 
We, at the University, are willing to provide consultancy services for mega projects implemented by the Ministry,’ said Dr. Janahi. Both parties discussed organizing a special exhibition to showcase students’ different graduation projects covering sanitary engineering, construction, roads, building materials and recycling. An agreement was also reached to form a team to prepare a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and continue cooperation between the Ministry of Works and the University of Bahrain.
