Under the patronage of HE the Minister of Works Eng. Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf, the Ministry of Works celebrated the Bahraini Woman’s Day, in the presence of the Assistant Secretary-General for the Supreme Council for Women Mrs. Dawiya Al Alawi and a number of officials from the Ministry.
During the celebration, the Minister delivered a speech in which he congratulated the Bahraini woman on her outstanding and admirable achievements on various levels; indicating how the Bahraini woman managed to become a leader in different posts locally and internationally, where she could be seen as a minister, an ambassador, an MP, a pilot, a doctor, a lawyer, a teacher, an engineer and many other noble occupations.
‘We take pride in our female competencies and what the Bahraini female engineer has achieved,’ said the Minister Khalaf.
‘40% of women working at the Ministry occupies senior management positions. Also, the Ministry of Works is one of the leading ministries to establish an Equal Opportunities Unit; supporting the requirements of the National Strategy to enhance the role of women,’ he added.
On behalf of the female honorees, Sanitary Engineering Planning & Projects Director Asma Murad delivered a speech in which she expressed pride in the female capabilities at the Ministry, who successfully managed to occupy the positions of the Roads Assistant Undersecretary, Construction & Maintenance Projects Assistant Undersecretary, Sanitary Engineering Planning & Projects Director, Financial Resources Director, Building Maintenance Director and Cost Engineering Director.
A number of female staff at the Ministry were honoured, in addition to those working at the field of media, in recognition of their active role in media. A gift was also presented to the Assistant Secretary-General for the Supreme Council for Women Mrs. Dawiya Al Alawi.
The event also included a photo exhibition portraying the achievements of the female staff at the Ministry of Works, in addition to another exhibition displaying their products.
