MoW’s Assistant Undersecretary for Roads Huda Fakhro met with MP Mohammed Al Ammadi, representative to District 6 at the Northern Governorate, where they discussed a number of issues relating to the area. During the meeting, MP Al Ammadi and Fakhro looked into the issue of traffic congestions during peak hours and ways to overcome that.

One of the suggestions was to implement traffic signals, which the Ministry intends to install on the roundabout of Sh. Khalifa bin Salman Highway and Wali Al Ahad Highway Interchange. Another suggestion was to transform Roundabout 7 in Hamad Town to a traffic signal controlled interchange, and re-consider the timing of the traffic signals at roundabout 6, in addition to modifying the entrance from the same roundabout. Al Ammadi also suggested that flexible poles at the entrance to Suq Waqif be extended; for drivers coming from Roundabout 2, in order to solve the present traffic issue there. Fakhro instructed the Ministry’s team to consider MP Al Ammadi’s comments and suggestions and see to the possibility of putting them into effect.
