MoW’s Roads Projects & Maintenance Director Raed Al Salah revealed that the Ministry has started constructing safety barriers along Sh. Isa bin Salman Causeway, which links Manama to Muharraq. The BD269,417 project was awarded to Abdulla Ahmed Nass Contracting and will take 16 weeks to complete.
‘The project is a response to HRH the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa’s directives to enhance safety level on the causeway, which has witnessed a number of fatal accidents,’ explained Director Al Salah. ‘The project is one of the Ministry’s utmost priorities for this year; aiming to enhance safety level and ease traffic movement,’ added Al Salah.
Works include the construction of concrete safety barriers in the central reservation and replacing elevated pavements with leveled pavements to increase safety level for road users. Works also include the construction of proper plastic channels to accommodate the ITS network.
