The Ministry of Works participated in the Green Buildings Conference that recently took place in Malaysia, which included construction experts, consultants and professionals from Malaysia, Australia, Finland, China, Singapore and the United States. The Kingdom of Bahrain, represented by the Ministry of Works, was the only Arab and Gulf country taking part in the event. Construction Projects Director at the Ministry Mona Al Motawa highlighted the Ministry’s green technology and green buildings approaches, which are being adopted in infrastructure and construction projects; thus contributing to urban development in the Kingdom. ‘The Ministry has already applied the Green Building Approach on the designs of new schools, in coordination with the Ministry of Education. We also took the initiative of evaluating power in our new building to make it become LEED Gold,’ she said.
