The Ministry of Works is proud to sponsor and co-organize the 5th Middle East Spatial Technology Conference and Exhibition (MEST), which will be held under the patronage of HE Fahmi Bin Ali Al Jowder, Minister of Works and Minister in charge of the Electricity & Water Authority. 


More than 500 professionals from all over the industry including geographic information systems (GIS) professionals, geographers, educators, researchers, developers, Information Technology specialists, engineers and surveyors are expected to attend this year’s event, which will be held at the Bahrain Conference Centre, Crowne Plaza Hotel from 7-9 December. 


The conference will highlight the development of Geographic Information Systems and applications including its fusion with engineering and business to meet the requirements of those who need to understand all aspects of infrastructure assets, including location and geospatial characteristics, maintenance histories as well as other key attributes. 


The Ministry is keen to support information sharing and foster best practices that meet or exceed international standards in conjunction with its leadership in planning and managing infrastructure development.  Its support for the event will be represented by the participation of the Ministry’s Central Planning Office (CPO), the body responsible for managing the coordination of the planning, Design, implementation and protection of all existing and planned new infrastructure in the Kingdom.


The CPO currently integrates and coordinates development activity of more than 70 individual infrastructure-related stakeholder organizations at all functional levels spanning strategic, network and project planning as well as project execution and the protection and security of existing national infrastructure assets. Dominic McPolin, Executive Coordinator of CPO, will provide a keynote address during the conference exhibition which the Ministry of Works will have a booth at it.
