A launch ceremony marked the official kick-off of the Quality Management Project at the Ministry of Works, which is one of the strategic and ambitious projects undertaken by the Ministry to accomplish Total Quality Management. Ministry of Works has appointed Infovision Consultants W. L. L. (ICON) to provide advisory and training services for implementation of Quality Management System leading to successful certification of ISO 9001:2008.
“Since we are committed to achieving Total Quality Management, we need not just settle on what we have already achieved. Our journey to quality is endless, for we aim to become one of the world’s best and efficiently managed public services organizations; an organization that strives to ensure the quality of its services . Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001:2008 is the right step to integrate the running of mainly strategic initiatives, Project Management System and Electronic Document Management System. We are confident that this is the right time for implementing Quality Management System,” said H.E. Fahmi Bin Ali Al Jowder, Minister of Works, Minister In-Charge of Electricity & Water Authority during a meeting held to officially launch the ISO Project.
“The task for ISO 9001:2008 implementation at the Ministry of Works is highly challenging, yet we have strong faith in the abilities of our management and staff. We are also sure that with the support extended to us by competent consulting team of Infovision Consultants, this task can be accomplished in time as per project plan,” explained Al Jowder.
Mobin Sheikh, Director and Principal Consultant at Infovision Consultants W. L. L. (ICON) conducted a short presentation on Quality Management System Project at the Ministry of Works. The presentation aimed at bringing both the Management at the Ministry and the Consulting Team on the same level of understanding to the project’s particles. The presentation started with a brief introduction to quality management system, and covered areas like project plan for ISO 9001:2008 implementation and certification and project related risks and benefits; which the Ministry is expected to reap once the project is accomplished.
Mobin Sheikh thanked HE Minister Al Jowder for his trust in Infovision Consultants W. L. L. to support the Ministry of Works in implementing Quality Management System.
“The main goal of this project for Quality Management System implementation is not to make tons of documents but to build a culture; Quality Culture, where people can follow quality even when no one is there to monitor them and look at them,” said Mr. Sheikh.
