The Ministry of Works has concluded two preparatory training courses for the Project Management Professional (PMP) and PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) certification examinations. Both certifications are issued and administered by the Project Management Institute (PMI), headquartered in the United States.
On this occasion, Mohammed Saleh Asheer, Director of Human Resources at the Ministry of Works, stated that the two courses form part of a series of specialized professional programmes delivered by the Strategic Planning and Project Management Section, which serves as a PMI-authorized training centre for project management programmes and certification preparatory courses.
Asheer affirmed that the Ministry is committed to investing in the development of national talent by providing specialized training programmes that enhance the competencies of engineering, technical, and administrative personnel. These programmes strengthen participants' capabilities in engineering and technical project management, supporting the Ministry's strategic objectives and improving the quality of project delivery.
He added that the total number of engineering and technical staff at the Ministry who have obtained the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification has reached 82 engineers, while 9 engineers and specialists from various sectors of the Ministry have earned the PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) certification. This reflects the Ministry's continued commitment to developing its workforce in line with international best practices.
The Strategic Planning and Project Management Section, in coordination with the Human Resources Directorate, continues to implement specialized project management training programmes as part of the Ministry's strategic plan. These initiatives aim to qualify both current and newly recruited engineers and technical staff, strengthen their readiness to manage projects efficiently, ensure the successful delivery of the Ministry's vital projects in accordance with the highest quality standards, prepare the next generation of project managers and engineers, and promote a culture of knowledge transfer and institutional sustainability.
