Engineer Shaikh Mishal bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Works, announced the completion of the expansion works of the turning curve from Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway to Janabiya Highway.

The Undersecretary stated that the Ministry had identified a number of major roads across the Kingdom of Bahrain that include turning lanes, with the aim of expanding them into two lanes. Among these is the turning curve from Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway to Janabiya Highway. The project forms part of the Ministry's ongoing efforts to develop infrastructure and enhance traffic flow in line with urban development and the increasing number of vehicles.

He added that the project included the development of the right-turn curve from Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway onto Janabiya Highway heading north towards Salman City, through the addition of a second lane to the curve. The works also included the relocation and protection of existing services, the construction of a stormwater drainage network on Janabiya Highway, paving works, as well as the enhancement of traffic safety requirements through the installation of safety barriers and directional and warning signs.

The Undersecretary noted that the expansion project will contribute to reducing traffic congestion and improving traffic flow by up to 40%, which will positively impact road users.

It is worth mentioning that the project was implemented by Haji Hassan Group and funded by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.
