HE Eng. Ibrahim bin Hassan Al-Hawaj, the Minister of Works, met with Prof. Ibrahim Khudra, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Strathclyde Bahrain, to discuss prospects for joint cooperation between the Ministry and the University in the fields of scientific research, thereby contributing to the development of the infrastructure system, within the framework of supporting integration between the government and academic sectors.

During the meeting, HE the Minister of Works emphasised the Ministry's commitment to expanding its partnerships with academic institutions and utilising research expertise in the development of current and future projects, thereby supporting the achievement of sustainable development goals and enhancing the quality of services provided to citizens and residents.

The meeting discussed the importance of utilising research studies to address the challenges facing the infrastructure projects and development sector, and of leveraging scientific outputs to support planning and data-driven decision-making. Mechanisms were also reviewed to enable students to benefit from practical training programmes by involving them in and exposing them to, real-life infrastructure projects across the roads, sewerage, and buildings sectors. This approach aims to strengthen their applied competencies and contribute to the development of qualified national cadres capable of meeting the evolving demands of the labour market.

In this context, Prof. Ibrahim Khudra praised the importance of this cooperation, emphasising the university's readiness to harness its research and academic capabilities to support the Ministry's efforts and contribute to the preparation of scientific studies that serve national priorities in the infrastructure sector.
