HE the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning Eng. Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf received at his office President of Bahrain University Dr. Riyadh Hamza, who was accompanied by Deputy President Dr. Ali Mansoor Al Shihab and Dean of the College of Engineering Dr. Foad Al Ansari. The meeting was also attended by the Works Affairs Undersecretary Eng. Ahmed Al Khayyat, the Assistant Undersecretary for Construction Projects & Maintenance Eng. Mona Al Motawa, Human Resources Director Mahmoud Abdul Rahim and Strategic Projects Director Eng. Mishal Al Khalifa.
The Minister Khalaf welcomed the guests and expressed desire to cooperate with the University of Bahrain on various levels.
Dr. Hamza referred to the Ministry's contribution to constructing buildings and facilities inside the university, in addition to developing the sewerage system and the infrastructure linked to the university's educational buildings.
Dr. Hamza commended the Minister's and the Ministry's efforts in supporting the university, and expressed the desire to further coordinate with the Ministry; specifically in relation to engineering fields.
The meeting highlighted the possibility of acquiring the assistance of the university's labs to prepare and complete researches conducted by the Ministry in relation to materials engineering; especially cement and concrete mixtures and construction and infrastructure materials.
The Ministry regularly provides practical training for students from the University of Bahrain and private universities as well; as part of their graduation requirements in fields of specialization like civil, mechanical and electrical engineering and other specializations like accounting, media and chemistry sciences.
The meeting agreed to form a corporate committee between the Ministry of Works, Municipalities & Urban Planning and the University of Bahrain, chaired by the Works Undersecretary Eng. Ahmed Al Khayyat and Dr. Ali Mansoor.
