The Ministry of Works, out of keenness to take part in community service initiatives and support blood donation campaigns on the Kingdom’s level, organized a Blood Donation Campaign in collaboration with the Central Blood Bank belonging to the Ministry of Health. The Campaign was organized by the Organizational Culture Committee at the Ministry, headed by the Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Services Ahmed Al Khayyat. Al Khayyat explained that upon directives from HE the Works Minister Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf, the Ministry of Works constantly seeks to enhance values and ethics related to societal partnership with all governmental and private institutions in order to activate and strengthen its role in society and provide support to whoever needs it. ‘Blood donation campaigns contribute to enhancing public awareness about health issues.
It is important to participate in such campaigns for humanitarian reasons and to save the lives of people desperately in need for blood; especially children suffering from thalassemia disease and patients undergoing surgeries or victims of fatal accidents,’ said Al Khayyat. ‘The Ministry will strive to ensure that such campaigns continue to take place,’ he added. 76 employees from the Ministry participated in the campaign, which is considered to be a humanitarian initiative from the Ministry and a commitment to its social role in supplying the blood bank with blood for people in need.
