The Ministry of Works participated in the Energy Management Conference & Exhibition 2013, which was held under the patronage of HH Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, the Minister of Finance and the Minister in Charge of Oil & Gas Affairs. The event was held at the Gulf Hotel Conference Centre from 9-11 December 2013.
By participating in the exhibition, the Ministry of Works highlighted the most important energy saving techniques they adopt in the implementation of their projects. The Construction Projects Directorate shed light on the Ministry’s Green Building Initiatives, which are part of the Ministry’s Strategy and have indeed been adopted in the implementation of school buildings and the Ministry’s new headquarters. A technique known as Building Management System (BMS) has been applied to accurately monitor and control all service systems; thus saving energy and providing efficient maintenance.
The Roads Planning & Design Directorate highlighted their new LED traffic signal model, which is the latest in the field of traffic engineering. The new traffic signals consume less energy than the old traffic signal models.
Also, the Materials Engineering Directorate delivered a presentation that highlighted the environment-friendly materials that the Ministry uses in different projects; in support of the green building initiative.
