The Ministry of Works has installed 300 new signals, while the total number of optical signals, which opened in the last year (2012) about 19 signals. Roads Planning & Design Director Kadhim Abdul Latif said: “distributed optical signals that have been installed in the year 2012 are as follows: Capital Governorate by six light signals, two signals in Muharraq, four signals in the Central Governorate and two signals in the Southern Governorate. Also the Ministry of Works has installed number (100) optical signals hanging on 44 intersections over the light signals on the streets quickly to ensure the vision of the drivers of the signal from a distance and reduce speed to avoid traffic accidents and to avoid crossing the intersection on red lights.
