MoW’s Roads Projects & Planning Director Raed Al Salah revealed that the Ministry has recently commenced the revamp of Sh. Salman Highway in West Riffa; Blocks 908, 906 and 944. Revamp works extend from Wali Al Ahad Roundabout in the north to Awali Roundabout in the south; covering all highway lanes (north and south) at a length of 6.600 km.
 
The BD1.2 Million project was awarded to Abdulla Ahmed Nass Contracting Company, and is expected to complete in March 2013. ‘The project comprises removing the old pavement bricks from the central reservation, increasing the width of the lane by 60cm and the highway width by 6m, and installing safety barriers on the central reservation to increase safety level,’ said Al Salah. ‘Work also includes creating a rainwater drainage network by digging the necessary drainages along the highway,’ he added.
