MoW’s Roads Projects & Planning Director Raed Al Salah revealed that the Ministry has commenced revamp works in Block 607 in Sitra; phase 1. According to Al Salah, the project reflects the ongoing coordination between the Ministry of Works and the Municipal Council, which seeks to see to citizens’ needs and set priorities for projects implemented in the area.
The BD762,727 project was awarded to Kingdom Asphalt Company and is expected to take 52 weeks to complete. ‘The project, which spans 8727m long roads from Avenue 4 in the north until Avenue 1 in the south, comprises revamping roads in Block 607, sand leveling works, protecting existent services, creating ground channels for the present and future use, implementing a rainwater network and upgrading the present lighting network,’ said Al Salah.
‘Works also include creating pedestrian pavements, and implementing ground signs that indicate traffic direction, for the purpose of increasing safety levels and maintaining the safety of road users.’ added Al Salah. Al Salah also reiterated the importance of coordinating with all concerned parties and related service organizations, e.g., electricity, water and sewerage, to attend to their requirements and also avoid any obstacles that may occur during the implementation of the project.
