Roads Planning & Design Director Kadhim Abdul Latif revealed that the Ministry received 329 requests for speed humps construction in all 5 Governorates during the first half of this year. ‘The Ministry implemented 128 requests, while 130 others are currently under implementation. The remaining requests have been rejected for the reason that they did not conform to the approval criteria,’ said Kadhim.

‘The Roads Planning & Design Directorate received plenty of requests for speed humps through the Municipal Councils, 161 of which were for the Northern Area Municipality. As for the remaining requests, there were 73 for the Central Municipality, 35 for Muharraq Municipality, 30 for the Southern Municipality and finally 30 requests for the Capital Municipality,’ he explained. All requests are reviewed by a committee comprising of members from the Ministry of Works, the Municipal Council, and the Traffic General Directorate.
