Upon directives from HH Shaikha Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Women, to celebrate the First Bahraini Women’s Day, the Ministry of Works celebrated the occasion on Tuesday 30/12 under the Patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Works and the Minister in Charge of Electricity & Water Authority Fahmi Bin Ali Al Jowder. The event was held in Beit Al Qur’an.
The First Bahraini Women’s Day is considered a day to express appreciation, respect and gratitude to every Bahraini woman for the great role she plays in building the society and contributing to further improving the future of the Kingdom of Bahrain, through nurturing the young generations and  spreading values of loyalty and perseverance amongst them.

“The first Bahraini Women’s Day is related to the First of December because it marks the beginnings of formal education for Women in Bahrain where the First Girls School was opened in Bahrain in 1928, that is 80 years ago! For this reason, thanks to the Royal care and support of HM King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa and the Royal Family, the first day of December every year will be the day to crown women’s pioneering role and success in promoting Bahrain Worldwide”, said HE Nayef Omar Al-Kalali, Undersecretary of Public Works Affairs at the Ministry of Works, at the opening speech.

On her part, Effat Redha, the Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Services at the Ministry, congratulated the women present at the event and wished them further success.
“Every Bahraini woman now has a day on which she can pride herself on her achievements and contribution to the successes of the Kingdom. This day will always encourage and motivate us to work harder and give more”, said Mrs. Effat.

At the end of the ceremony, a number of the female employees at the Ministry were honored for their efforts and achievements.
