eGA Bahrain Exellence Award (2011)

In its pursuit to make further progress in the world of advanced technology and digitalism, the Ministry of Works recently won best eProject Award in recognition of their Accident Information Management System (AIMS), which aims to provide better services to citizens and stakeholders and serve all sectors in the Kingdom. HH Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa presented the award to HE the Minister of Works Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf during the opening of Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 201, which was held in Isa Cultural Centre and jointly organized for the fourth year by the eGovernment Committee, Bahrain Society for Engineers, PMI (Bahrain Chapter) and Bahrain’s Internet Committee. Roads Planning and Design Directorate (RPDD) at the Ministry uses the data gathered of accidents collected by General Directorate of Traffic. The data is then used to analyze accident patterns. The analysis helps RPDD to take major steps in road design, study black spot analysis, study traffic control and safety features and implements various schemes to reduce accidents.Ministry of Works’ project fulfills all requested criteria; highlighting the use of new technology and innovative ideas to improve services and serve all those who benefit from this particular eService
