The Supreme Council for Environment CEO Dr. Mohammed Mubarak bin Daina stated that Muharraq STP will contribute to alleviating pressure on Tubli STP. In addition to that, Muharraq STP will have less emission and will not discharge any sticky residue or liquid to the sea, as it is equipped with a modern and advanced network to transfer sewage water. As for the temporary discharge of treated water that is safe to use for irrigation and discharge into the sea, Dr. Bin Dina said: ‘Everybody is anticipating the completion of the irrigation network for the benefit of the agricultural sector; based on the highest standards.
This is due to the fact that the plant provided both the housing and commercial sectors in Muharraq complete independence for the treatment of sewage water,’ Regarding the hydrogen sulfide gas treatment unit attached to the plant, Bin Daina explained that the study that was prepared to measure the environmental impact of the project revealed that ventilation at the plant was sufficient, especially given the fact that the gases treatment unit at the plant adopts the chemical wash method to refine the treatment process and dispense of pungent odors.
