MoW’s Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Services Eng. Ahmed Abdul Aziz Al Khayyat revealed that the Ministry awarded 5 tenders worth BD5,753,283 and also invited bids for 13 tenders worth BD7,637,500 in May 2014. According to Al Khayyat, the awarded tenders covered the roads, sanitary and construction sectors. In the roads sector, the awarded tenders included the preparatory works for the revamp of Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sobah Avenue (Alba & Nuwaidrat Interchange) at a cost of BD3,950,000; one of the Gulf Fund projects.
 
In the Sanitary Sector, the awarded tenders included the implementation of the sub sewerage network in Shahrakan Block 1044 at a cost of BD69,835, the preventive works for the mechanical and electrical maintenance, microelectronic devices and the repair of necessary tools in Tubli STP for a period of 4 years at a cost of BD1,495,000. In the construction sector, the 2 awarded tenders included the renovation and extension works in Building No. 5 at the Sanitary Engineering premises in Salmabad at a cost of BD223,330 and the repair works, electromechanical maintenance, plumbing and sanitary works in Al Fateh Mosque at a cost of BD15,117. As for the 13 tenders for which bids were invited in May, they also covered the roads, sanitary and construction sectors. ‘The Procurement Department at the Ministry’s Cost Engineering Directorate approved 213 purchase orders covering various sectors at the Ministry at a cost of BD533,162,’ said Al Khayyat.
