Eng. Hoda Abdulla Fakhro, Assistant Undersecretary for Roads discussed the requirements of Hamad Town with regard to road services with HE Mr. Mohamed Al Aamadi, MP and representative of the 6th constituency in the Northern Governorate. During their meeting, discussions dealt with the demands of the member of parliament and the latest developments concerning them.

He has already called for widening the Wali Al Ahad Road to turn it into a three-lane route in each carriageway in the part from Wali Al Ahad Causeway to Hamad Town entrance with the aim of easing daily congestion on this busy thoroughfare. Eng. Hoda Fakhro said the project was in the engineering design stage but she noted that the project would conflict with other service agencies which could delay its execution. The Assistant Undersecretary for Roads pointed out that a traffic study had been conducted for increasing the capacity of the roundabout under the Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman road flyover by installing traffic lights on the roundabout. In this regard, the civil works have been completed and the traffic lights will be installed in the near future. Meanwhile, the MP proposed a review of the route planning at 6th Roundabout for travelers coming from Shaikh Khalifa Road in addition to modifying some pavements to improve the view for drivers whose vision gets blocked by lamp posts that prevent clear vision.

The Assistant Undersecretary has instructed the concerned engineers to conduct an on the spot survey of this particular request but taking into account the road safety considerations. The discussion also dealt with the design prepared by the Ministry to the entrance and exits of Waqef popular market. Mr. Al Aamadi proposed the conversion of certain access roads to a single carriageway.

Ministry officials promised to study the proposal and to provide the MP with updated designs. It was noted that the owners of the market would have to be consulted with as the area was privately owned. Finally, discussions dealt with expanding the car parking facilities near Hamad Town mosques with the Ministry confirming the implementation of some of these projects. Pavements have also been reduced to allow more parking spaces to be available in the area. Eng. Fakhro pointed out that the available sites would be closely looked at to confirm the requests submitted to the Ministry of Works for the Hamad Town area to proceed with preparing designs required for this purpose.
