A workshop in which findings and recommendations of environmental consultant Posford Haskoning Environment Gulf (PHE Gulf) to clean and rehabilitate Tubli Bay will be held today at the Ministry of Works HQ in Hoora.

It will be attended by representatives from the concerned bodies and members of the Steering Committee for the Tubli Bay Clean-up, which is chaired by H.E. Nayef Omar Al-Kalali, Under-Secretary for Public Works Affairs at the ministry.

The committee also includes senior representatives from the Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs Ministry, Industry and Commerce Ministry, the Manama and Central Municipal Councils, the Public Commission for the Protection of Marine Resources, Environment and Wildlife and Bapco, in addition to Posford.

Meanwhile, Mr Al Kalali yesterday met with internationally renowned dredging expert Nick Bray and the environmental consultant from Posford.

The meeting discussed various options to clean the bay and was also attended by Essam Khalaf Assistant Under-Secretary for Roads, Khalifa Al Mansoor Assistant Under-Secretary for Sanitary Engineering and Director of Sanitary Engineering Operation and Maintenance Ibrahim Al Hawaj.
It outlined ways to prepare for the physical clean up of the bay area for today’s workshop which will be held to further discuss options.

The team of Mr Bray, one of the world’s leading dredging experts from Dredging Research Limited, which is a part of H R Wallingford Group, also included representatives from PHE: Halel Engineer, Director; Dr Dickon Howell, Environmental Consultant; Dr Keming Hu, Senior Hydrodynamic Consultant; Michael Arora, Senior Marine Consultant.
