The Communications Directorate of the Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning Ministry, in coordination with the Roads Projects & Maintenance Directorate, organized a field visit to the Alba & Nuwaidrat Interchange Project. The visit targeted a number of Municipal Councils Chairmen and members and also the Capital Secretariat. Also, the visit was attended by the Roads Assistant Undersecretary Eng. Huda Fakhro, Roads Projects & Maintenance Director Eng. Sayyed Bader Alawi and a number of engineers from the Ministry. The visit is part of the introductory campaign on Alba & Nuwaidrat Interchange Project.

At the beginning of the visit, Fakhro welcomed the attendees and extended thanks to them for accepting the Ministry's invitation; being essential partners with the Ministry. She also reiterated the importance of the visit, which highlighted the latest developments in the project and the basic implementation phases of the project, which should be conveyed to citizens and residents of each Constituency during the councils weekly sessions.

Later, reference was made to the importance of the interchange and its role in facilitating traffic movement; being an essential part of the strategic roads network. Also, the meeting shed light on implementation phases, strategic scheme and related traffic diversions.

Fakhro stated that the Alba & Nuwaidrat Interchange Project is one of the biggest and most important infrastructure projects in the Kingdom of Bahrain; facing a number of challenges including the amount of traffic on the interchange, which is 65000 vehicles daily, in addition to the ground services involved on site, such as electricity, water, oil and gas lines. The Ministry is sparing no effort to overcome all challenges and serve citizens and residents by making this project a success.

Communications Director Fahad Buallay stated that this field visit is one in a string of field visits and introductory workshops related to the Alba & Nuwaidrat Interchange Project. The two interchanges will contribute hugely to facilitating movement from Manama to Riffa, Isa Town, Durrat Al Bahrain and the Southern areas of the country. Similar workshops have been arranged recently at Alba and GIPEC; aiming to introduce representatives to citizens on the municipal level to the Ministry's projects, especially those that ensure a better life to them, in line with the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
