WORKS, MUNICIPALITIES AND URBAN PLANNING MINISTRY ORGANIZES A MEETING FOR MUNICIPAL COUNCIL MEMBERS

As part of the ongoing coordination with Municipal Councils to enhance municipal work; in line with HM the King’s reform project, the Ministry of Works, Municipalities & Urban Planning held an introductory meeting for Municipal Council members of Muharraq Governorate, Northern Governorate, Southern Governorate and the Capital Governorate.
 
The meeting aimed to introduce the members to the Ministry’s plans for both the roads and sanitary sectors for the next 4 years, where such plans are to be translated into projects following approving 2015-2016 budgets according to the priorities.
 
The meeting was attended by the Roads Assistant Undersecretary and Head of the Coordination & Follow-up Committee Eng. Huda Fakhro, Roads Planning & Design Director Eng. Kadhim Abdul Latif, Sanitary Engineering Operation & Maintenance Director Eng. Ebrahim Al Hawaj, Sanitary Engineering Planning & Projects Director Eng. Asma Murad and Municipal Council heads and members.
 
At the beginning of the meeting, Fakhro welcomed all the attendees and congratulated the Municipal Council members on winning the municipal elections. She also congratulated the Chairman and members of the Capital Council Secretariat on gaining the royal trust and winning the membership of the Capital Secretariat; wishing them all luck in serving the Kingdom and its citizens.
 
‘This meeting fulfils the Ministry’s faith in the importance of municipal work and its contribution to development. The Ministry of Works, Municipalities & Urban Planning will spare no effort to make this approach a success and enhance collaboration with Municipal Councils,’ said Fakhro.
 
‘The Ministry constantly seeks to push forward municipal work and initiatives. It is our concern to answer and attend to all applications submitted to us from different groups of the society, by meeting with municipal council members of all Governorates,’ she added.
 
During the meeting, municipal members were introduced to the Ministry’s organizational chart, the scope of work and procedures of the Coordination & Follow-up Committee, projects implementation mechanism and the various phases a project goes through prior to implementation.
 
Chairman of the Capital Board Secretariat Mohammed Al Khozaei reiterated the need to communicate with other service ministries to enhance municipal work.
 
He also commended the Ministry of Works’ open door policy and requested them to clearly display their contact numbers for citizens, taking into account that some are still unaware of how to contact the Ministry to raise their complaints and concerns.
 
Chairman of Muharraq Municipal Council Mohammed Al Sinan, Chairman of the Southern Municipal Council Ahmed Al Ansari and Chairman of the Northern Municipal Council Khalifa Bu Hamood extended thanks to the Ministry of Works, Municipalities & Urban Planning and commended its efforts in organizing this fruitful meeting.
