The Ministry of Works organized a training course for 22 employees from the Sanitary Engineering Sector (engineers, technicians and trainees) under the title ‘Operation & Maintenance of Sewage Treatment Plants’ from 7-11 September. The workshop was organized in cooperation with the renowned companies ENGICON and M Engicon&O, and accredited by the German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste (DWA); with experts and trainers in the sanitary field. The workshop highlighted the various mechanisms and systems used for sewage water treatment, sewage water specifications, laboratory tests, the importance of re-suing treated water for different purposes according to the approved sewage water standards in Bahrain, in addition to shedding light on the maintenance and choice of pumps, and safety and security procedures at sewage treatment plants. Also, the workshop also referred to the advanced treatment mechanisms, such as the tri-treatment methodology, sludge treatment and uses, and the best practices and operational plans that ensure sustainability and efficiency of treatment plants. The workshop included a field visit to Muharraq STP. Sanitary Engineering Assistant Undersecretary Eng. Khalifa Al Mansoor distributed certificates to the participants in the workshop.
