KHALAF INSPECTING DEVELOPMENT AND EXPANSION PROJECT OF SOUTH (ALBA) WASTEWATER TREATMENT STATION

HE Eng. Issam bin Abdullah Khalaf Minister of Works, Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning toured the site of the development and expansion of the southern station (Alba) for wastewater treatment accompanied by the Assistant Undersecretary of sewage. Asma Murad, Director of Operation and Maintenance of Sewage. Shawki al-Mandil and a number of ministry engineers.

The Minister of Works explained that the project aims to develop and expand the South Station (Alba) to treat wastewater from the existing industrial zone in southern Alba. Due to the development of the region, the station needs to be developed and expanded to be able to receive a flow rate of 2.500 cubic meters per day. The station will be able to reach a future capacity of 4,000 cubic meters per day. As for the wastewater, it is treated to comply with the environmental standards and the station serves the industrial facilities in the surrounding areas, through which the treated water is reused for afforestation.

It is worth mentioning that the consultant of the project is Mr. Stankt Khanji, and the project was awarded to (Saturn Construction) –the contractor- by the Tenders and auctions Board with a contract worth BD 5,400,000, and the project of rehabilitation and expansion of the station has started in January 2016. Operating in two phases; the first in July 2018, and the second phase (full station operation) on 28 February 2019.​

Eng Essam revealed that the project comes within the framework of the comprehensive service carried out by the Ministry of Works and Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning for the development of sewage services. All to meet the needs of the Kingdom in accordance with the vision and perceptions developed.

This comes in view of providing the sewage networks in the Kingdom with the required technical level in order to achieve the desired benefit of these projects. Also, to ensure the provision of a safe and healthy environment for the residents of the region, to provide the best services to its citizens by their high performance, its strategic work directions, its adoption of strategic management and modern, advanced technologies, and its success in the occupation of an advanced position in the provision of high-quality infrastructure services.
