The Ministry of Works’ Assistant Undersecretary for Roads Huda Fakhro visited the Northern Governorate, accompanied by MP Mohammed Al Ammadi; the representative to District 6 in Hamad Town. The visit aimed to acknowledge roads and sanitary engineering needs in the area.
Al Ammadi highlighted citizens’ and residents’ needs in the area, which included the expansion of Wali Al Ahd Highway into a 3 lane road on each direction; the part located between Wali Al Ahd Causeway and the entrance to Hamad Town. Al Ammadi also referred to the re-evaluation of entrances and intersections located above Hamad Town tunnels at roundabouts 6 and 14, the construction of parking spaces for a number of mosques in Districts 6, 7 and 8, lowering pavements close to the Traditional Suq to be used as parking spaces, the construction of a speed hump along Road 810 at block 1208; leading to the traffic signal at roundabout 14, to prevent races that take place there, leveling the land located to the left of the entrance to Hamad Town from roundabout 6 on Sh. Khalifa bin Salman Highway, to be temporarily used as a children’s playground.
Al Ammadi also requested that a proper entrance to block 1215 be created, in addition to creating an entrance point to Al Lawzi area, and paving the carriageway located between roads 823 and 825 in block 1208. There was also reference to the Ministry’s scheme for the entrances to Suq Waqif and the re-planning of parking spaces, which comes following approval from the suq’a management. As for sanitary engineering services, MP Al Ammadi reiterated the need to maintain rainwater networks and increase the number of manholes in a number of areas to prevent flooding.
