Building Maintenance Director at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning Eng. Huda Mirza visited the Handcrafts Center in Manama to inspect work progress. Present in the visit was Handcrafts Director at the Tourism & Exhibitions Authority Shaikha Wafa bint Saif Al Khalifa.
Director Mirza stated that the Ministry is to commence the complete maintenance works and the revamp of the center by the beginning of next year; taking into account the importance of the center as a traditional and touristic landmark that reflects Bahrain's history and heritage.
Mirza added that the maintenance works aim to preserve the structure of the center, improve the internal environment, prolong the center's life span, maintain sustainability, increase the value and efficiency of the center in relation ti its operational and economic aspects, therefore supporting touristic needs and ensure safety of the users of the building.
Maintenance works will comprise of civil, mechanical and electrical works, internal and external painting works, revamping toilets, fixing doors, replacing electricity and water connections and damaged health tools. Works will also include replacing the old lighting system with the new energy saving LED lights and implementing heat insulating windows.
