WORKS MINISTRY MAINTAINS A NUMBER OF GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS AND NEARBY ROADS IN PREPARATION FOR THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR

Building Maintenance Director at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning Eng. Huda Mirza revealed that the Ministry has recently completed the maintenance of a number of government schools of different stages distributed amongst the Kingdom's Governorates; as part of the agreement with the Ministry of Education and in preparation for the new school year 2016-2017. The cost of the maintenance works is BD328,600.

Mirza stated that the maintenance works aim to maintain the safety of the school buildings structure, improve their internal environment, prolong their life span, ensure sustainability and increase their value and competency on the operational and economic levels. The maintenance of government buildings, especially schools, falls in line with the Government's interest in maintaining school buildings in order to ensure the provision of high quality services; in line with a yearly plan aiming to maintain schools in the Kingdom.

The schools which underwent maintenance included Al Noor Secondary School for Girls, Oroba Primary School for Girls, Jaw Primary School for Girls, Sitra Primary School for Girls and Somaya Primary School for Girls.

Eng. Mirza also added that the complete maintenance works comprised of civil, mechanical and electrical works, in addition to internal and external painting works, revamping toilets, fixing doors and windows, replacing electricity and water extensions and damaged health tools. Also, the old lighting system at some schools have been replaced with power-saving lighting and aluminum insulating windows were installed to save power and preserve natural resources in the Kingdom.

A total of 55 other schools and buildings belonging to the Ministry of Education were maintained at the cost of BD730,317.  

Roads Projects & Maintenance Director Eng. Sayyed Bader Alawi stated that the Ministry has also revamped a number of roads in the vicinity of the maintained schools in preparation for the school year. The revamped roads included the roads surrounding Abdul Rahman Al Dakhil Intermediate School for Boys, Shaheen, Daibal and Noon Avenues in front of Al Ma'arifa Secondary School for Girls and Riffa Intermediate School for Girls, Avenue 3 in front of Hamad Town Secondary School for Boys, in addition to Karzakan Project in Block 1026, the construction of Road 2621​ and parking spaces in front of Karzakan Primary School for Girls and Al Khalil bin Ahmed Intermediate School for Boys, the revamp of dirt roads in Busaiteen Blocks 226 & 228- Phase 2; in front of Busaiteen Intermediate School for Girls.  ​
