MUNICIPALITIES AND THE EGOVERNMENT DISCUSS COMMERCIAL LICENSING SYSTEM PROJECT

HE the Minister of Works, Municipalities & Urban Planning Eng. Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf met with Chief Executive Officer of the eGovernment Authority Mohamed Ali Al Qaed, in the presence of Vice-Chief Dr. Zakariya Ahmed Al Khaja, Municipalities Affairs Undersecretary Dr. Nabeel Abul Fath, Agriculture and Marine Resources' Undersecretary Shaikh Khalifa bin Isa Al Khalifa and the Assistant Undersecretary for Resources & Information Shaikh Nasser bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.
 
The two parties; Municipalities and eGovernment, discussed the commercial licensing Issuing System Project, where a presentation about the project was delivered aiming to create an advanced electronic system to organize the licensing of commercial facilities in the Kingdom of Bahrain, facilitating the obtaining of commercial registration and related approvals from government entities, putting the related procedures in order based on best international practices and connecting all related government electronic systems.
 
Khalaf and Al Qaed also discussed requirements to connect the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs & urban Planning to the system.
 
They both agreed that in order to achieve the objectives of the system, collaboration should take place with every concerned sector with regards to accrediting the list of activities and determining the requirements of each activity (fees, approval to non-Bahrainis, etc.) and specifying the type of approval or license.
 
Emphasis was also laid on the need to identify a list of users to access the system and having them registered in the electronic key system, in addition to training them on the system; in line with sorting and deciding upon applications electronically.
 
The meeting also shed light on procedures determining the approval of municipalities related to the blocks located in the formerly Central Municipality, studying licensing requirements and commercial activities approvals, discussing leases recording, looking into licensing requirements and commercial activities approvals and identifying and training users from the agriculture sector.
 
Present from the eGovernment Authority were Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer Firas Jaffar Ahmed and Director of Commercial Licensing Project Arif Murad.
 
The meeting was also attended by the Acting IT Director Sameera Al Ansari from the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning, Director of technical Affairs at Muharraq Municipality Eng. Entisar Al Kubaisi, Director of Technical Services of the Northern Municipality Eng. Saba Al Asfoor, Director of Technical Services at the Capital Secretariat Eng. Shawqiya Humaidan, Director of Information Systems Mohammed Adel Bu Hassan, Chief of the Complete Municipality Center Ebtihal Al Hashimi and Chief of Development Department & Local Planning Othman Niama.
