ROADS ASSISTANT UNDERSECRETARY INSPECTS ROAD 2830 PROJECT IN WADI AL SAIL

Roads Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities & Urban Planning Eng. Huda Fakhro went on an inspection visit to inspect work progress in the implementation of Road 2830 in Wadi Al Sail, in the presence of Colonel Dr. Read Hussain, representative from Bahrain Defense Force’s Military Works Directorate and in charge of Wadi Al Sail Investment project.
 
Present in the visit were also representative to the Southern Governorate’s 7th Constituency Abdul Latif Mohammed and a number of engineers from the Ministry’s Roads Projects & Maintenance Directorate. Fakhro explained that the BD200,000 project is being implemented by Kingdom Contracting and Tadamon Contracting. Work comprises of constructing a 1500m long road connecting Wali Al Ahad Highway to the entrance and exit in the area. According to Fakhro, a part of the road with the length 350m (nearby the commercial market) is separated with a central reservation from the entrances to the market.
 
Work also includes paving side and central pavements, constructing a roundabout close to the market and implementing a storm water drainage network. Coordination is in place with the Electricity & Water Authority to transfer all service lines conflicting with the project, implement new lines in the area, transfer telecommunications lines affected by the road works and install lighting poles along the road. Abdul Latif suggested expanding the turning lane from Road 2830 onto Wali Al Ahad Highway into 2 lanes to alleviate congestion, revamping the last part of Road 2830 and consider traffic safety requirements along Road 2854.
 
He also requested provision and pavement of parking spaces along Road 2811 and creating new entrances to Wadi Al Sail area to alleviate traffic congestion along Wali Al Ahad Highway and Road 2830 once the new mall is opened. Colonel Dr. Read Hussain commended the Ministry’s cooperation in relation to providing citizens’ and residents’ infrastructure needs in the Kingdom. He also stressed Bahrain Defense Force’s keenness to work hand in hand with the Ministry to overcome any obstacles facing the project.
