WORKS, MUNICIPALITIES AND URBAN PLANNING MINISTER INAUGURATES THE 15TH INTERNATIONAL PMI CONFERENCE

On behalf of HRH the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, HE the Minister of Works, Municipalities & Urban Planning Eng. Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf inaugurated the 15th International PMI Conference- the Gulf Chapter.
 
The conference is held under the patronage of HRH the Prime Minister with the theme ‘Delivering GCC 2030 Vision through Excellent Project Management’, and is taking place at the Gulf Hotel’s Conference Hall from 19-21 January 2015. The conference, which is supported by mega companies and institutions, aims to provide the platform for experts in project management to exchange expertise, share their knowledge and visions in the field and discuss the latest mega projects and most prominent challenges and practices relating to project management.
 
The conference attracts a number of keynote speakers from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, France, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States, all of whom will certainly enrich the conference sessions and a number of parallel tailored pre and post conference tutorial workshops.
 
The conference will shed light on a number of important search aspects such as leadership in project management, the role of Project Management in the planning & Execution of projects, sustainable environment development projects, human resources development in project management, privatization projects, project risk management, promoting Project Management Fundamentals & Practices in the Region and improving productivity. At the beginning of the ceremony, the Minister Khalaf delivered a note in which he said: ‘the Kingdom of Bahrain continues to support the Project Management Institute by embracing its branch in the Kingdom of Bahrain and supporting the activities of this conference and any other related activity practiced by the Institute,’ ‘Also, the Ministry of Works, Municipalities & Urban Planning has adopted strategic planning in its work and is implementing all projects based on this methodology.
 
The Ministry has also adopted Project Management as part of its strategic plan, which makes it one of the leading ministries in applying project management in line with PMI’s method and procedures,’ he added. The Minister also referred to HRH the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa’s support to infrastructure development initiatives in the Kingdom, which contribute to enhancing Bahrain’s economy and enable it to face all kinds of challenges.
 
For this reason, everybody should spare no effort to ensure the continuity of development initiatives and approaches; in line with HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s vision for the future of Bahrain. Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, which has emerged under the supervision of HRH the Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, primarily aims to enhance Bahrain’s position regionally and internationally and build a better future for the Bahraini people.
 
‘Being the government’s construction arm and responsible for the creation of infrastructure projects like roads, causeways, sewerage networks, storm water drainage networks and municipality and agriculture projects, the Ministry of Works, Municipalities & Urban Planning is keen to spread awareness about adopting best practices in managing and implementing projects by providing proper training to engineers and technical cadres to ensure intact implementation of future projects,’ said Khalaf.
 
‘Also, the Ministry is working on qualifying the second row of engineers and project managers, who shall take responsibility for the future and ensure provision of high quality projects,’ he added.
