Roads Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities & Urban Planning Eng. Huda Fakhro met with Muharraq’s Police station Chief Major Fawaz Alhassan; in an attempt to enhance partnership between the two parties.
During the meeting, which was attended by officials at the Muharraq’s Police Station and the Ministry’s roads sector, a number of issues relating to traffic safety on roads and traffic congestions in Muharraq have been highlighted.
Major Alhassan delivered a presentation about Muharraq’s Police Station model experiment in dealing with traffic issues like wrong and duble parking that transforms some roads into one-way roads, and traffic issues near schools such as Tariq bin Ziyad School, Muharraq Secondary School for Girls and Isiqlal Secondary School for Girls.
He also stressed the importance of providing bus stops at certain locations. Major Alhassan also referred to the importance of the Ministry collaborating with a team comprising of various governmental entities and headed by Muharraq’s Police Station in order to solve similar traffic issues and problems.
Eng. Fakhro expressed the Ministry’s willingness to look into all the proposals presented by Major Alhassan, and commended Muharraq’s Police Station model in serving citizens and residents.
Workshops on traffic safety requirements at work locations and on the road network are to be organized for Muharraq Police Station staff.
