WORKS MINISTRY REVEALS THAT 647 EMPLOYEES RECEIVED TRAINING COURSES DURING THE FIRST HALF OF 2014

The Ministry of Works revealed that the number of staff who joined training courses and attended conferences during the first half of 2014 amounted to 647 employees, with a cost of BD107,855. The training is part of the Ministry’s plan that aims to develop the human element and enhance knowledge and skills on various levels, in order to improve the Bahraini competencies that are considered to be the basis of sustainable development and growth. According to Human Resources Director Mahmoud Abdul Rahim, the directorate plays an essential role in realizing the Ministry’s vision to become a leading organization that provides highly qualified human cadres; comprising of engineers and professionals, through the provision of proper and continuous training. ‘During the first half of 2014, the Ministry conducted 90 training courses, 14 of which were external and 76 internal; including contractual courses and regular courses,’ said Abdul Rahim.
 
‘The Ministry also participated in 10 foreign and local conferences,’ he added. Abdul Rahim explained that the aim of the training courses provided by the Ministry of Works is to develop the skills and knowledge of staff for the purpose of improving performance. In this context, the Ministry prepares specialized theoretical and practical programmes based on certain goals; to be able to qualify staff to have prompt response and keep up with work developments and technology evolution. The Ministry also adopted the title ‘Trainee engineer’ in tis organizational Chart, in cooperation with the Civil Service Bureau, which seeks to qualify a second rank of engineers to have various specializations within the Ministry.
