Huda Fakhro revealed that the Ministry received a total of 1120 applications from Municipal Councils at the Kingdom’s 5 Governorates during the first half of 2014; all covering roads and sanitary issues, while in the same time last year they received 1477 applications. Fakhro explained that the difference in the number of applications between last year and this year is due to the efficient mechanisms that the Ministry has adopted to improve performance, such as the urgent applications form, sanitary hotline, and the constant collaboration between the Ministry of Works (represented by the Coordination & Follow-up Committee) and Municipal Councils; aiming to respond to citizens and residents’ requirements and solve their problems and issues. As part of the coordination between the Ministry and Municipal Councils to fulfill the objectives of His Majesty the King’s reform project, over than 26 meetings were held during the first half of this year, compared to 17 meetings in 2013; indicating a 50% increase. This approach only reflects the Ministry of Works’ efforts to improve municipal work and continue to respond to all applications from the different parties in community, through meeting with municipal council members at the different Governorates and tackle roads and sanitary related issues. More than 32 field visits took place from January to June 2014, while only 21 visits took place in the same time last year.
