WORKS MINISTER INSPECTS DIRT ROADS PAVING IN SANAD BLOCKS 743 AND 745

HE the Minister of Works Eng. Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf inspected the paving of dirt roads in Sanad Blocks 743 and 745, Roads 4394 and 4580 and the environs, which has recently commenced as part of the Government’s Program to improve the infrastructure in all areas in the Kingdom, pave dirt roads in urban areas and provide an integrated road network. During the visit, the Minister was briefed on the work progress, which is now 10.6% complete.
 
Work is expected to take 32 weeks to complete. The BD517,507 project was awarded to Al Wardi Contracting Company and is planned to serve 408 residential units. The project is also aiming for 85.10% completion for all roads in the block. Work comprises of paving a total of 3km long roads, paving and asphalting works, implementing a proper infrastructure and constructing parking spaces.
 
Work also involves installation of storm water drainage system, installation of street lighting system, signage, traffic and warning signs and instructions to provide safety on the roads. The Minister directed the work team to increase the number of tanks within the storm water drainage network and also increase their sizes in order for them to be able to accommodate the amount of rain expected during the rainy season.
 
He also reiterated the need to study the surrounding areas to include them in the future development plan, once the necessary coordination takes place with the concerned parties and budget is allocated. The Minister was accompanied by Roads Assistant Undersecretary Huda Fakhro, Roads Projects & Maintenance Director Raed Al Salah, Roads Planning & Design Director Kadhim Abdul Latif and a number of engineers from the Ministry.
