WORKS MINISTRY AWARDS 21 TENDERS AND INVITES BIDS FOR 18 TENDERS DURING QUARTER 1 OF 2014

HE the Minister of Works Eng. Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf revealed that the Ministry awarded 21 tenders worth BD12,004,506 during the first quarter of 2014, and also invited bids for 18 tenders worth BD44,847,584. In January 2014, the Ministry managed to award 7 tenders worth BD6,459,495; both in the sanitary and construction sectors. Bids were invited for 6 BD2,218,000 tenders; covering roads and sanitary projects. In February, 8 roads and sanitary tenders were awarded; worth BD2,222,639, while bids were invited for 8 infrastructure projects worth BD20,160,300.
 
In March, the Ministry awarded 6 tenders worth BD3,322,370 (sanitary and construction projects), while bids were invited for 4 BD22,469,284 tenders. As for the projects completed during the first quarter of 2014, they are as follows: Roads Sector • Remaining works in Sitra Bridge: worth BD3,262,603
• The revamp of roads in Riffa- Blocks 902 & 904: worth BD2,045,000 • The revamp of King Hamad Highway: worth 1,043,647 Sanitary Sector
• Sewerage works in Tubli 711: worth 2,979,396
• Sewerage works in Riffa Blocks 937 & 941: worth 2,589,906
• Sewerage works in Busaiteen Block 227: worth 226,763
 
The most important projects that commenced in the first quarter of 2014 are: Roads Sector Paving of dirt roads in new areas: The Ministry commenced the paving of dirt roads in a number of urban areas; worth BD9,000,000. The total length of paved roads in these projects is 43.21 km, to serve a total of 3000 residential units. The projects are the following:
1. Sanad (Blocks 743 & 745)
2. Hidd (Blocks 112 Avenue 11)
3. Busaiteen- Phase 1 (Block 228)
4. Busaiteen- Phase 2 (Blocks 228 & 226)
5. Zinj (Block 358) and Tubli (Block 711- Road 1101)
6. Tubli (Block 711- Avenue 1135)
7. Sadad (Avenue 38- Roads 3845, 3813 and 3810) and Shahrakan (Road 4417).
 
Construction Sector As part of the Government’s program to implement infrastructure projects that serve citizens in their everyday life in various areas in the Kingdom, 3 projects to construct schools worth BD11,341,161 were awarded. The Ministry of Works is supervising the projects according to the Ministry of Education’s plan.
