WORKS MINISTRY COMPLETES FOUNDATION WORK ON PRINCESS SABEEKA SOCIAL CENTRE

MoW’s Assistant Undersecretary for Construction and Maintenance Projects Mona Al Motawa revealed that the Ministry has completed the foundation and construction works related to Princess Sabeeka Bint Ebrahim Al Khalifa Social Centre Project sub-station, located in Hunainiya Valley close to West Riffa Club. Work is presently on schedule and is expected to take 18 months to complete. The Assistant Undersecretary for Community Development at the Ministry of Social Development reiterated that Princess Sabeeka Bint Ebrahim Al Khalifa Social Centre highlights the Leadership’s keenness to provide high quality social services to citizens and is also part of HRH Princess Sabeeka’s support to the project and her concern towards the Bahraini families and other groups in the community.
 
The project aims to improve the quality of services provided to them, such as training on house and productive projects, training programmes, educational workshops, health awareness campaigns and lectures related to community development. The social centre will provide social activities and programmes, awareness programmes, social aid service such as social insurance, financial support to the limited income families, financial provision for the disabled and compensation for house fires, family counseling services that include psychological services and family counseling for all parties in community in addition to training courses and productive units that help families and individuals enhance their skills and improve their income. Child services will also be provided at the centre. Professor Khalid Ishaq commended the leading role of the Supreme Council for Women and the constant collaboration between the Ministry of Works and the Council. ‘The centre design reflects Bahrain’s rich architecture history, and covers an area of 8350m2,’ said Al Motawa.
 
‘The project consists of a 3 storey social building, with administrative offices, training, lectures and social activities halls for both sexes, a multi-purpose theatre that accommodates 286 persons, electricity sub-station, parking lot and other related services,’ she added. The BD2,885,000 project was awarded to Dar Al Khaleej Trading & Contracting WLL. Work commenced in December, 18, 2013.
