He the Minister of Works Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf inaugurated a training program organized by the Information Technology Directorate at the Gulf Hotel. The program was widely attended by various directorates from the Ministry and other government organizations. Present in the event was also the GIS and Assets Management Expert Mike Howser.
The Ministry’s Undersecretary Waleed Al Saei, Assistant Undersecretaries, Directors and representatives from the Survey & Land Registration Bureau, the Central Informatics Organization and the Electricity & Water Authority attended the opening ceremony. According to ITD Director HishamSater, the event is part of the Ministry’s initiatives aiming to establish an electronic system to manage assets, which will take the form of a 4 day training program and workshops.
‘The program aims to implement the best international practices in the field of infrastructure in order for the Ministry of Works to handle different challenges in infrastructure management, decrease maintenance and follow up costs, speed up services delivery and tackle any urgency,’ said Sater. ‘Once completed, the new program will facilitate the implementation of regular maintenance programs, which will therefore positively serve the maintenance of infrastructure and assets management,’ he added. The assets management program implemented by the Ministry of Works adopts the best international practices in the field. This training program is seen as a valuable opportunity for those interested in learning more about different projects.
